Corruption

The athiest was all about rooting out corruption. Even though he never exploited Sampath for what he believed to be, a fraud, is Sampath corrupted? The only reason people were amazed at him was because he knew secrets about them, but that was because he had snooped through their letters. Is that fair that they now treat him like a god? Or unfair?

The definition of corruption is a lack of integrity or honesty. Sampath was definitely not honest with the people who came to see him. He abstained from telling them the reason that he knew their secrets and let them believe that he was a holy man. The truth was that he was just a nosy post office worker, but he refrained from telling anyone that. Sampath may not have told a direct lie, but by withholding the truth he is still guilty of dishonesty. I believe that this lack of honesty does make him a corrupt person and it was unfair for the people to treat him like a god.

I also think it is unfair that people treated him like a god. Sampath never actually gave direct answers to the people, only weird comparisons to like nature.
