Hungry Hop Boy Empty Hungry Hop Boy

Why was the Hungry Hop boy never given a name?
Did the author think that it would be irrelevant to the story or that it might be confusing to add yet another name to the story line?
I just think it is odd that the boy Pinky is in love with and is going to run away with does not have a name.
